Students will learn and develop practical competence in several styles of spoken English: to inform, persuade, narrate, demonstrate, and build support.
English Writing Fundamentals

This course will help learners to acquire the English communication skills needed for the modern workplace. It will cover the structure of writing letters, emails, memos, external correspondence and reports, as well as grammar and sentence constructions. Participants will read a variety of business and academically-related writing, and receive feedback on their own writing.
Graduate Research Writing

This course aims to improve an advanced-level school student, undergraduate, or graduate student’s writing, with a particular emphasis on advanced academic skills (e.g. thesis development, reviewing literature, presenting results/data and applied discussion.
Idiomatic English

Level: Intermediate to advanced.
This course is designed to develop a wide-range of common English expressions used in everyday conversations. Learners will emerge from this course with an improved ability to use English idioms and to sound more native-like and natural during conversations. The idiomatic language covered will be varied, topic-based and useful in both professional and social settings. Everyone loves it when you drop an idiom in your second language!
English through Literature

Level: Intermediate to advanced.
This course is intended to be both personal and collaborative, where your love for literature through English can flourish. English though Literature guides participants through a collection of some of the best examples of 19th and early 20th century short stories including a group-generated collection of modern literature to explore.
Additionally, key text from some of the greatest literature novels will be analysed. Reading in class will be accompanied by audio transcripts. Participants will have the opportunity to share their opinions, and ask questions about vocabulary, phrases, and expressions.
